Laser skin treatments are an effective option for many patients looking to improve the appearance of their face, neck, chest, and overall body. In general, laser treatments may fall in to 1 of 2 categories. First are ablative treatments, which are laser devices that gently remove layers of skin to achieve specific aesthetic goals. Alternatively, laser skin treatments can be non-ablative, meaning that the skin absorbs laser light without any cellular damage. Non-ablative laser skin treatments are known to achieve various results, including increased blood flow, collagen production, and visible skin improvement. If you shave only to see stubble the very next day, Miami cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Mariano Busso’s Ellipse Laser Hair Removal achieves long-lasting results. Ellipse Laser Hair Removal provides a long-term solution for unwanted hair compared to regular shaving. Target unwanted hair on your face, underarms, legs and bikini line, and chest and back. Compared to the typical annual cost of waxes, creams, and razors to a series of Ellipse Laser Hair Removal treatments, laser hair removal saves time and money—and it’s virtually painless.
Here, Dr. Busso answers questions about his new Ellipse Laser and its application for hair removal.
How does Ellipse Laser Hair Removal work?
Dr. Busso: Ellipse safely and effectively targets unwanted hair using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). The light source used in laser hair removal is attracted to the dark melanin found in hair. The darker the hair is, the more effective the treatment. The laser targets hair follicle cells without heating or damaging the surrounding tissues.
How Many Treatments are Required for Ellipse Laser Hair Removal?
Dr. Busso: A course of 3–6 treatments at 1–2 month intervals brings best results. Avoid exposing the treated area to the sun 30 days before and after each treatment session. As the treatment progresses, the amount of hair on the treated area is reduced and finer in texture*.
A variety of new non-surgical cosmetic procedures produce results previously possible only with surgery. Patients are embracing high-tech alternatives to facelifts, neck lifts, liposuction, and other invasive procedures.
“My practice is based on minimally invasive, non-surgical cosmetic treatments,” says Miami cosmetic dermatologist Mariano Busso. “For over two decades, we have been the local leader as far as introducing new technologies and procedures, but patients trust us not to jump the gun. It is critically important to adopt only technologies that have been proven safe and effective. As a researcher, I evaluate clinical trials, study results, evaluate the claims of medical technology developers, attend training, and make sure the science is sound.”
I am excited about a few new procedures I introduced into my practice toward the end of 2014; I will be unveiling a few more in the beginning of 2015. Continue reading →
