Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look. They may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons.

Microdermabrasion improves mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A gentle stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. The particles scrape away the surface layer of aging or damaged skin, which is then brushed off with the microdermabrasion vacuum tool with no need for anesthesia. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.

Facial peels help exfoliate the damaged layers of skin to reveal the younger, healthier skin beneath. As we age, the rate at which our skin sheds and replenishes itself slows down. This leaves a layer of dead cells on the surface of the skin, contributing to an aged appearance. Made of natural fruit and plant extracts, essential oils, vitamins, collagen, elastin or other ingredients, facials are a faster and gentler alternative to laser resurfacing. Applied in a series of 15- to 20-minute treatments over several weeks, facials reduce the signs of aging and can also improve skin conditions such as acne, dry or oily skin, and uneven texture or pigmentation. Peel strengths and formulas are tailored to each patient for optimal results.

Photorejuvenation reduces the natural consequences of aging on our skin including sun damage, freckles, age spots, acne scarring, enlarged pores, and redness caused by broken capillaries and rosacea. Using non-invasive, painless pulses of light, treatments can also improve the appearance of birthmarks and uneven pigmentation and stimulate the production of collagen. There is no recovery time and low risk of complications. Multiple sessions of about 20 minutes each are performed every few weeks until the desired result has been achieved.

Sclerotherapy is the standard treatment for varicose and spider veins. A special sclerosing solution is injected into the diseased vein, which then collapses and is gradually absorbed by the body. By the end of the treatment program, the veins are less visible on the skin surface. Sclerotherapy usually also relieves symptoms associated with enlarged veins and prevents further complications.

Spider and varicose veins may be prevented by wearing sunscreen on the face, exercising regularly, controlling your weight, elevating legs when resting, not crossing the legs when sitting, avoiding long periods of standing, wearing elastic support stockings, and eating high-fiber foods.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Hair Removal
technology provides long-lasting hair removal on any area of the body. IPL photoepilation uses high-energy pulses of light to remove unwanted hair from the face, back, legs, bikini line and other areas without damaging nearby tissue. First, a cold gel is applied to the skin. Then the IPL handpiece is moved back and forth across the selected area. Hair beneath the skin surface absorbs the light and heats up, loosening from the follicles and eventually falling out. Patients can return to work and all regular activities immediately after the procedure. Hair begins immediately and is long-lasting, with some permanent thinning. Several treatments may be desired for optimal results.

Thermage™ is an advanced way of tightening skin that uses a unique form of radiofrequency energy to allow the physician to tighten loose or sagging skin, producing a kind of "lift" without an incision or recovery time. It is the only non-invasive method to tighten loose skin. With the gentle touch of the device tip, the surface of the skin is cooled, while the deeper tissue, is altered by radiofrequency heating. This not only tightens deeper skin tissue, but jumpstarts new collagen production, which occurs over a period of time.

While not a substitute for a surgical facelift, the Thermage procedure can be used on patients with a moderate amount of sagging skin and wrinkles. The Thermage procedure is sometimes referred to as a mini-face lift, ThermaLift or DermalLift by physicians who have observed that this non-surgical procedure lifts and tightens tissue, similar to a facelift without the surgery.
