Microdermabrasion is a minimally-invasive procedure that rejuvenates the skin. This procedure treats sun damage, scarring, wrinkles, and other skin imperfections. Microdermabrasion uses a gentle stream of tiny crystal particles to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, revealing a fresh and younger-looking appearance. This may be combined with other procedures such as chemical peels or laser treatments to achieve each patient’s distinctive skin goals.
HOW DOES MICRODERMABRASION WORK?
Microdermabrasion uses a handheld device to transmit tiny crystal particles across the targeted area in order to exfoliate the surface layer of the skin. The dead skin is then suctioned away with a vacuum tool which reveals the healthy-looking skin. Mild redness is common for approximately one hour after the procedure, but this usually goes away on its own. Most patients can achieve noticeable results after a series of five to ten treatment sessions, spaced one to two weeks apart.
