Pre-filler Injection Instructions
- If you are going to stop taking blood thinners, do so 2 weeks prior to treatment. This includes all anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Ginko Biloba, Turmeric, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Omega-3 Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids. If pain medication is needed, use Tylenol instead.
- If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, it may be advisable to be on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
- If you suffer from allergies or sinusitis make sure your symptoms are under control before treatment.
- It is recommended to discontinue Retin-A 2-3 days before treatment to avoid any increased redness or irritation.
Post-Filler Injection Instructions
- Do NOT touch, press, rub or manipulate the injected areas after treatment. This can cause irritation or filler displacement.
- Swelling is very common and is worse the morning after treatment.
- Avoid excessive gestures that involve the treated area.
- Avoid high-sodium foods and alcohol 24-48 hours after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
- Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products for the next 48 hours after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.
- Avoid wearing makeup or lipstick on treated area until the day after treatment.
- Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, peels or facials for 2 weeks after treatment.
- Avoid Micro-dermabrasion, HydraFacials, deep radio frequency or laser resurfacing over treated area.
- Call the office if you have increased pain, swelling, redness or blisters following your treatment. o Full results are evaluated after 2 weeks. One side may settle faster than the other.
Post Threads Procedure
- Tenderness/Pain can last 1-4 weeks.
- Tenderness/Pain may be accentuated by gestures or touching the treated area.
- Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours and should settle within the first few days. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling.
- If swelling is persistent it may be advisable to take a course of oral antibiotics.
- No extreme facial expressions for 2 weeks.
- If threads were place in the jowls, DO NOT open mouth too wide for 1-2 weeks.
- If threads were paced in the cheeks, avoid excessive smiling.
- No facials or facial massage for 10 days.
- Apply products in a tapping or upward motion.
- Application of antibiotic ointment is advised on entry points.
- Although most patients do not bruise, it can occur and may take a few days to appear.
Pre-filler Injection Instructions
- It takes 7 days for full results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment you may need additional Botox. (Routinely there is no charge for touch ups.)
- Botox can be performed in conjunction with fillers, laser or threads on the same day.
- We recommend contracting the treated muscles for 3 minutes immediately after treatment.
- Laying down is no longer a contraindication after your Botox treatment.
